welcome to the world as seen through my eyes
At present, my directing sensibilities lean toward the interdisciplinary. I think of myself as a choreographer intrigued with the boundaries of movement and text and the variety of ways to tell a story; the Aristotelian spectacle is always in mind when I approach a work. I also like to concern myself with race/ethnicity/cultural identity, feminism/gender issues, and activism/social justice while avoiding blunt and tiresome socio-political plays.
My theatrical future involves taking over the world one Greek tragedy at a time. To that end, I hold an Masters in Drama from San Francisco State University. Impact Theatre in Berkeley is my theatrical home, but in addition to my work with Impact I have worked with Woman's Will, California Conservatory Theatre, Chanticleers, the Hayward Greek Festival, Pleasanton Playhouse, the San Francisco Young Playwrights Festival, TheatreWorks, and Cal Shakes. I am a frequent guest director and lecturer at Cal State University, East Bay, where I directed Children of Eden, A Christmas Carol, Creon, Medea and Trojan Women. Other productions of note include In the Blood, Vagina Monologues, La Ronde, Scapin the Cheat (2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe), and Anna Bella Eema (2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe).
